How PartyVendor Trust works — the full guide

NaijaMart PartyVendors

Booking a caterer, decorator, or DJ involves paying someone you may not know yet — this explains how NaijaMart's trust engine protects both sides of that booking.

Overview

You can book and pay a vendor two ways: directly from their PartyVendor profile, or as part of an event you're organising through NaijaMart Events. Either way, the same trust engine holds your money until the vendor's work is confirmed done.

Finding a vendor

Browse by category and location, check reviews and verification badges, then message the vendor directly — WhatsApp, phone, however you prefer — to discuss what you need.

Booking directly

Once you're ready to proceed with a vendor you found on their own profile page (not through an event), start a trust engagement right there — the same 5-step process every trust engagement uses:

  1. 1

    Parties

Confirm who's involved and the total amount.

  2. 2

    Terms

Agree who covers the trust fee.

  3. 3

    Arbitrator

NaijaMart's default arbitrator, or one you both choose.

  4. 4

    Milestones

Break the total into stages — a deposit to secure the date, balance closer to the event, for example.

  5. 5

    Review & confirm

Both sides sign off before anything is funded.

Booking through an event

If you attach a vendor to an event you're organising in NaijaMart Events, the same protection applies automatically — you don't book them twice or set up a second payment flow. The event becomes the context for that vendor's trust engagement.

Milestones and payment stages

Most vendor bookings aren't one payment — a deposit to secure the date, then the balance closer to or on the day, is typical. Each stage is funded, confirmed, and released separately.

Delivery — the two-step handshake

Delivery is proven by both sides, deliberately:

  1. 1

Step 1 — the vendor submits proof

A photo of the completed work, delivery, or setup. This does not release any money by itself.

  2. 2

Step 2 — the vendor enters the host's code

Only the paying party can see their delivery code. The host gives it to the vendor once the work is done; the vendor enters it, which confirms delivery and starts the release window.

Why this protects vendors too

Once the host confirms, the release window means silence isn't a way to withhold payment indefinitely — vendors get paid even if the host goes quiet after confirming.

Disputes & arbitration

Either party can raise a dispute on a milestone before it's released. The milestone freezes, an arbitrator reviews the evidence, and the decision — release, refund, or split — is final.

Signing in to send an invoice

When a host first asks you for a quote, you don't need an account at all — you get a private link, you send your price, and that's that. Sign-in only becomes necessary at the point real money starts moving:

  1. 1

Quote stage — no account needed

Open the link the host sent you, send your price, update it if they come back to you. Nothing to set up.

  2. 2

Invoice stage — sign in with your phone

Once your quote is accepted and it's time to invoice, you sign in with your phone number. No password — just your number.

  3. 3

Your vendor profile is created automatically

Signing in creates your NaijaMart PartyVendor profile if you don't already have one, so hosts can find you, and your work starts building up in one place.

Why sign-in is required at that point

Invoices, payments and payment confirmations all have to belong to a real, identifiable account — both so you can be paid reliably, and so nobody else can send an invoice in your name using a forwarded link.

Appreciations & your profile

After an event, the host writes a short appreciation of your work on their event page, and guests who actually checked in at the event can add their own. These appear on your NaijaMart vendor profile automatically — you don't have to collect or chase anything.

  1. 1

You can reply to each one

Like a review reply anywhere else — one reply per appreciation, from your Vendor Appreciation page. Once you reply, that appreciation is locked and can't be quietly reworded afterwards.

  2. 2

    Add your own photos

The host can add up to three photos of your work, and you can add more of your own to any event you worked on.

  3. 3

    Show off work from anywhere

Work you've done outside NaijaMart can go on your profile too, under Other Events — your own title, date, description and photos.

Guest privacy

Guest appreciations show as “Guest #123”, never a guest's name — guests' personal details are never published on NaijaMart.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use trust for any vendor category — catering, decor, photography?

Yes — any PartyVendor listing can be booked and paid through trust, direct or through an event.

What if I book a vendor for my event — does that use a different flow?

No — it's the same trust engine either way. Booking through an event just carries the event's context automatically; nothing about the protection changes.

As a vendor, how do I submit proof I've completed the work?

From your My Trust Payments dashboard — upload a photo for the relevant milestone once your part is done.

Do I need a NaijaMart account to quote for a job?

No. Quoting works from the link the host sends you, with no account at all. You only sign in when it's time to send your invoice — and that sign-in is just your phone number, no password.

Can I remove an appreciation I don't like?

No — appreciations belong to the person who wrote them, the same as reviews anywhere else. You can reply to any of them, and your reply sits alongside it permanently.
